The Raid: A Poetic Review

The Raid: Redemption is an Indonesian action movie that’s making waves with action-movie buffs for its uber-violent fight scenes featuring a style of martial arts called silat. Truth be told, it owes a lot more to Muay Thai and Hong Kong action movies than silat, but this nonstop fight fest is entertaining nonetheless.

Its setpieces are probably some of the most innovative I’ve seen in a long time, though they did get repetitive after awhile. Here’s my poem-as-a-review:

Roses are red,
Violents are blue.
The Raid‘s action was refreshingly violent
Though its story stunk like a big pile of poo.
